Mid Century Mondays // 14

Each Sunday there is a small flea market in North Portland.  Most of the venders sell garage sale left overs and other items of questionable taste.  Good mid century items can be hard to find.  Most Sundays I don't find much but it is always fun to try to dig up a diamond in the rough.  Today I found a couple great pieces.

I was really surprised to find a real Curtis Jere sculpture.  It will be a wonderful addition to our home.

I always have an eye out for interesting taxidermy pieces.  SOLD

Later in the afternoon I found this wonderful bentwood desk chair.  It needs a little TLC but I am sure we will have it all fixed up in no time.  Unfortunately it does not have any tags or makers marks.  It is definitely in the style of Plycraft but I can't find any other examples of this chair.  Does any know anything about it?  SOLD

  1. Saw that Jere in the Mad Men premier last night. Can't wait to see how you fix up that chair. Thanks for the link up.

  2. It will be great to find out more about the chair. Interesting construction for sure. The wall sculpture is one of my favorites of the style. I think the Jere connection has not been proven though. Is yours signed?

    1. Thanks for your comment. My sculpture is not signed but it is completely rusted so the signature my have worn off. However, here is a link to an identical one on ebay that is signed: http://www.ebay.com/itm/EARLY-SIGNED-C-JERE-BIRDS-SUNBURST-MID-CENTURY-MODERN-METAL-WALL-SCULPTURE-WOW-/310554280817?pt=Antiques_Decorative_Arts&hash=item484e7a4371&nma=true&si=30wcSqL4p420cQMVSkSGZ%252BE5Rws%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
